Tomoko Atsuchi
Born in Okayama, in 1984. Grew up in Kyoto. Finished a master’s degree at Kyoto City University of Arts (department of oil painting). Expressing the space in front of herself that cannot just be described by clear perspectives. Atsuchi’s work has many perspectives and light sources and her paintings are being constructed with compressed time and memories.
Atsuchi admits that she is influenced by John Currin and Neo Rauch which we all agreed with, and her works are very much concrete but also possible to peep through the taste of abstract. Those motifs are associated with the taste of foreign however, the audience can feel the sense of Japanese oil painting.
