TEZUKAYAMA GALLERY is pleased to present the exhibition “Beyond Reaching You, Beyond Feeling You.” from March 22, 2025.

Recently, we have encountered many moments that urge us to reflect on issues such as environmental concerns, wars, minorities and politics. When people with vastly different values engage in discussions on these matters, opinions often intertwine, leaving us unable to find a definitive answer. (Perhaps, the absence of an answer itself is the answer.) Even when we attempt to force a conclusion, expressing our thoughts based on our own values may inadvertently hurt those who hold different perspectives. Moreover, even when we preface our statement with “Personally, I think…” and strive to be considerate of multiple viewpoints, our words may end up feeling detached from our true selves.

For this reason, rather than presenting works that explicitly tackle major social themes, this exhibition focuses on the act of “touching”, showcasing works that delve into deeply personal realms and sensory experiences. The four artists share a common approach: their works emerge from their own lived experiences and reflections. Because these creations are born from their minds and bodies, viewers may find a sense of familiarity, leading them to introspect.

At the same time, the subjects and distances explored in each artist’s series vary, which may cause viewers’ thoughts to diverge in different directions.

However, precisely this expansion of perspectives defines the essence of the exhibition. We hope to continue exploring these open-ended questions together with all who visit.
